I would have originally posted this under the multimedia section, but come and find out it affects a lot more. I was originally using Gnash to play flash video in Firefox, which went quite well; kudos to the developers of that project, they've done a lot of good work. Though in my quest for integration I installed ubuntu-restricted-extras to play DVDs, which removed Gnash and installed Flash. All was fine and dandy until someone tried to install flash from the Adobe website using the outdated DEB package they have. now when I try to do anything with package management I get this:
sudo apt-get install vlc
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: The package adobe-flashplugin needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

Aside from a total reinstall, any ideas?
