View Full Version : [ubuntu] Firefox double-click not responding

When I double-click in Firefox to run a video clip (on BBC home page) nothing happens. BUT if I tab to "play" the video runs. Also if the video launches automatically it runs OK. Double click works fine in other apps.
This has only happened recently. Karmic with Ubuntu Studio were fine until a few days ago.
(Hardy Heron on another hard disc runs ok so my mouse must be good)
Any ideas please?
Chris

I've tried re-installing Karmic on a different drive and also changing the mouse but still no response to a double click to open video clips. (They do open with tab+enter)
Can ANYONE offer any sugestions Please?
Chris

I don't quite know what you are trying to do. I have never opened anything in firefox by double clicking.

Can you provide a link or something so people could try it out themselves?

Have you tried any other browsers, like opera or chromium/chrome?

What version of Firefox are you using?

Did you notice any updates that happened right before it broke?

Also, is your problem similar to this?

Sorted!
It's a bug....see here
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-nonfree/+bug/410407
I had to do all three "workarounds" before it was fixed.
This is what I was trying to do...
BBC News...video clips...."click to play" nothing happened. Also similar problem with other video clips.
Thanks for your response Dougie. I was beginning to think everyone has gone back to windows!
