I got a great deal (free) on a dell laptop. It had a bad hard drive and I just happened to have another one.
I downloaded 9.10 and made an install cd and was very impressed with how easy everything went.
All seemed to work ok and it still does except for wireless internet.
Wired works ok.

I have a dell inspiron 8130
1.27 gig intel pentium M
80 gig hard drive
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection

I know a fair amount about windows, but almost nothing about linux. The term newbie is a disservice to other here that think of themselves as being new.

Any help would be appreciatd, as I am completely lost.

Check in System>Admin>Hardware drivers,
to start with. See if you can enable the card there.

Would also suggest you do a search in the networking subforum using "2915ABG" to see if others have already addressed and solved the wireless connection problem. This is a long-standing and well-known chipset. You should be able to find several posts that deal with it.
