Okay so, here's the deal. I installed Ubuntu Studio on my laptop because I wanted to try it out and see if I'd like all of the cool apps. Well, a few months down the line, I have decided that I don't much care for it, and would rather have regular ubuntu installed and manually re-install the studio only applications that I liked.
I'm hoping it's not too hefty of a procedure, because the ISO is currently en route to my computer. I am currently dual booting with Vista, so is there a way that I could easily uninstall Studio from the ext3 partition and replace it with a clean install of "regular" Karmic? I have already backed up all the files that I would like to move over, so that is not a problem.
Now, I know what a lot of you are going to say... "Just uninstall the apps you don't want and BAM. You've got regular Ubuntu." Well, there really is a difference in the framework of the two OS's. For instance, I had to manually install applications like Empathy that automatically came with the Karmic update for everyone else, and I didn't get the Download Center that replaces Add/Remove Programs, either. Also, Studio doesn't come with a Network Manager, so that was a huge pain as well. There really is a difference, and I've decided that I'd rather just have the same Ubuntu that everyone else has and manually install the Studio applications that I like.
Thanks!
