I am new to ubuntu and recently upgraded from ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. I experienced some graphics issues and some problems with Firefox so I decided to reinstall 9.04. Somewhere in the installation process my sound card driver was deleted. I was directed to an ubuntu post for repairing/installing a driver and have had no success. There is a step in the process about modules where I have to hit the Tab button before I hit the enter button. The terminal is telling me each time that lib/module-2.6.31.14 is not installed and it will not continue. I googled 2.6.31.14 and discovered that it has something to do with the kernel. I went into the synaptic package manager and was not able to find anything with those numbers. I will be obtaining an installation disk this weekend for Mint and am wondering if it will install a new sound card driver. Does anyone have suggestions for fixing my little adventure? Thank you.
