I bought the Samsung Moment with Google on Saturday. It's pretty awesome. I noticed it can play music as well, but I was scared to connect it to my computer. I was scared of what Ubuntu might have done to it. Today I worked up the courage to open the plastic pouch with the USB cable and connect the phone to my computer. To my amazement (for better or for worse), it mounted the phone's internal memory flawlessly. I should have expected as much, since Google Android is based on Linux and ummm, hmm, so is Ubuntu.

Forgive me for lacking faith, oh mighty and just Torvalds. I have sinned.

Good luck trying to update it to Android 2.1 on Linux though.

Hmm? What does Linux have to do with that?

If the Moment is like the Droids and Nexus One, getting Android 2.1 just needs root, custom recovery, and then flash the rom.

None of that needs any particular OS and can be done on the phone itself :P

PS: Just checked the OP date. Old thread is old. :P
