I had Karmic installed on my entire harddrive, then I freed up some space and installed windows 7 on half of it. I messed around with the live cd to fix grub2 so it would recognize both Karmic and Windows 7, but now Grub2 boots straight into Karmic without giving me any options.

I tried using this (http://techblog.ribouxj.org/2009/10/17/restore-windows-boot-option-in-grub-2-menu-after-installing-ubuntu-karmic-koala-9-10/) guide, but I could not save the changes made to grub.cfg.

(I really don't know what I'm doing)

anyway, here's some output:

grub-mkconfig:

john@john-laptop:~$ sudo grub-mkconfig

If there is any other output you need just ask.

When it only has Karmic it now boots directly into Karmic, but if the prober found windows it should show the menu.

Did you try the shift key as grub is coming up to force a menu?
