Discuss how much you would put the price. Of Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Edubuntu, and Xubuntu. Consider that desktop environments were not interchangable i.e You ned a Ubuntu and Kubuntu license to run bothe KDE and Gnome.
Keeping in mind the price of Windows Xp, Windows 7 and OsX Snow leopard.

You might find this Slashdot story (http://linux.slashdot.org/linux/08/10/20/1515253.shtml) interesting.

I'd say if you used that basis of cost, Ubuntu would be $129.95, Open Office would be about the same price. But everything else on the CD comparable to Windows is included in the OS, except Brasero... that'd be $79.95 if you already have the burner.
So in essence, if you had to pay for Ubuntu, it'd be over $300.00.

I value my free Kubuntu cd a lot more than my Windows 7 "Ultimate -Ultimate extras" one
