View Full Version : How do I translate ASP.NET applications built with Mono?

I am learning to develop ASP.NET applications under Mono.

Despite a number of trials and tribulations, things are moving along.

At this point, however, I'm kind of stumped.

What I'm looking for is a HOW TO on translating my application. As a first cut, I'll want English and French versions.

The Book I'm using (ASP.NET 3.5 Unleashed by Stephen Walther - and which I recommend, by the way) talks about creating .resx files.

Somewhere, I found a mention of .resources files. Elsewhere, I found that System.Resources is located in the mscorlib that I need my application to reference.

So, I have a few questions:

1. Should I write .resx files directly or should I write .resources files?

2. What is the format for .resources files?

3. If I have to create .resx files by hand, is there a tool available to help or am I stuck typing in raw XML text?

4. How is monodevelop's translation tool used (I can't find any form of documentation for it.)?
