I am looking for help on this, as I need to know what is needed to make a 2D platformer similar in style to Metroid, except with dialogue thrown in. If you could at least direct me to some good tutorials, it would be appreciated. I'm probably going to find a workaround to scrolling, especially if I can't find a better simple way to draw the graphics than what I have already thought of, which I shall explain later.

Check out thenewboston on youtube. Just look around and he's got some pretty good tutorials. I think he uses windows though so be prepared for some differences if you use Ubuntu

I use both. Admittedly, though, I would take Ubuntu over Windows any day.

Oh of course! haha Microsoft is the devil to me. Let me know if those tutorials help because I was thinking of getting in to some of that when I get some free time :)
