Hello!

After upgrading from jaunty to karmic(-amd64), I am having serious issues with some KDE Applications, namely with digikam and the whole kontact suite (kmail, korganizer, ...). These programs all crash with an error message of "Bus error" before anything is visible on the screen (kontact) respectively after the splash screen (digikam).

Other KDE apps (konqueror, amarok, kgpg) are working work

Any ideas?

cheers
Mathias

I have a similar problem.
I am on a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10.
All KDE applications fail to start!
I tried to reinstall them all with no sucess
If I try from a console I get usually the message "bus error".
I got this result with K3B, digikam, konqueror, kate, okular, kcalc.

for kmail, Amarok, konsole, kontact I get the following message:
"org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "

for Kopete, Knotes, juk I get no error but the program refuse to start

I have no idea what to do!

I finally gave up and did a fresh reinstall of karmic, now it works. Still far from a beatutiful solution.
