I couldent get it to boot

I first tried to Boot ubuntu 9.10 x64 off a usb drive, it hung on where it says "linuxkernal........ready" (sorry forgot what it actually says) it doesn't go any farther than that, so I tried off another usb, same issue. Then I burn to disk and doesn't go any farther than that same point. but I booted my x86 version and worked fine off the first usb drive. Anyone else have this issue?
I have a intel core 2 quad.

did you MD5SUM (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) the iso you downloaded? If even one character is off the iso is no good!

Try downloading from a torrent also.
