What's this I see over at: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Karmic

Ubuntu has a six month release cycle, with releases in April and October.
Lucid Lynx (10.04 LTS) (http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Lucid), scheduled for release in April 2010, will be the next LTS (Long-term support) version.
Mighty Mandrill (10.10), scheduled for release in October 2010. This will not be an LTS version.

I know ubuntuguide.org isn't official but has the name Mighty Mandrill already been decided on then?

As far as I can see, Ubuntuguide is the only source that says that 10.10 will be called Mighty Mandrill.

It's a wiki. As far as I can tell, Pespectoff added the information at some point when copying the guide for jaunty into the guide for karmic. This was done on or before 16Aug09. I'll vote "no" on this one.

At least Mark didn't know or want to tell last friday:

(12:18:15 PM) akgraner: <sebsebseb> QUESTION: Have you already got any ideas for what Ubuntu 10.10 might be called, if so what?
(12:18:30 PM) sabdfl: sebsebseb: patience ;-)

The great thing about Ubuntu is, if you think the name for a release is really bad you can either:

1. Call it by the version number instead of release name or
2. Wait 6 months for the next release to come out

I normally just call it by the animal's name. Most people wouldn't have taken me seriously if I gave them a "Hardy Heron" CD. And yes, despite hardy meaning "strong" or "robust", it would normally get taken as something more vulgar by my friends, who are mostly teenagers in High School.

I just hope that the next name isn't suggestive like hardy's was. #-o

By the way, a bit off topic from my original subject, but if I was Mark Shuttleworth, the egotistical side of me would probably end up naming it "Mighty Mark". ;)
