Pic #1 looks more like purple with black stripes, not red.

BTW, his lego figure has a purple shirt-

BTW, does anyone else think that Alan Moore looks like a pissed-off version of RMS? Funny enough, hes got a lego figure well-

Oh please... I really fail to grasp all the ridicule by RMS on this forum. Few individuals have done so much for open source as RMS.

And I fail to grasp how pointing out the frequency he wears red shirts is ridicule. Unless you didn't mean my post.

apparently.
So ?

It's just something I noticed.

I didn't mean to imply something or disrespect RMS by this thread.

+1. Torvalds might have written the linux kernel, but without the previous work of RMS is would have been just a footnote in history from a computer student. IMO anyway.

Edit- the red shirt isnt really an issue, either way. At least your paying attention -grubby. Quick thought, if we combined RMS + Trovalds, would we get a jolly red wearing guy from northern europe, who gives away stuff, and has a long list of 'naughty' and 'nice'? Hmmm.

I have nothing against Stallman. We all owe him a lot. I just sort of wish we weren't reminded of it so often.

BTW, if it wasnt for my wife. Almost every shirt I own would be orange. Its a good color for a fat guy, keeps me from getting ran over by traffic. :-)

Or maybe his choice in threads is like his opinion - he picked one and damn sure no amount of tempting progressive orange t-shirts shall bring about the slightest touch of pragmatism.

It might have something to do with his autism, although I'm not sure how wearing a red shirt might help, or why his autism might make him choose red.

maybe then the color itself is less relevant than the fact he chooses (shades of) the same color all the time

its because the FSF started out as the Free Shirt Foundation, but the idea didn't catch on so he was stuck with a lot of red shirts when he moved onto software.

Well, I don't wanna sound like I went overboard here, but I emailed RMS. Partially to see if I could get a response, the other half because I was genuinely curious.

He said it was being he liked red a lot.

From what I've seen and read, as long as you aren't an idiot in your email, RMS generally makes an attempt to respond to most emails.

Re: Is it just me, or does Richard Stallman always wear a red shirt?

I'd say it's just you, in the sense like, what do you care and what business it is of yours. I think it matters not what color Stallman wears, and that posting a thread about it is simply ridiculous. It's probably wrong to just by a single thread, yet this particular one doesn't add much esteem to what the OP has to say.

RMS has done nothing for Open Source, in fact he opposes the term as he thinks it deludes the larger societal message of Free Software.

that still doesn't mean he didn't do anything for open source, where would open source be without RMS and free software?

I appreciate what Stallman has done for Open source and Linux, but i don't want it shoved down my throat so often.

He's a cool guy (although prone to moaning about things most people find pointless, GNU/Linux an example), life goes on.
