Please!

I've tried to install Zoneminder and got nowhere.
Somewhere along the line mysql loaded and screwed everything.

All I want to do is get rid of karmic and re-install Jaunty from the CD, but it won't let me do it.

I don't care about home directories or anything! I have nothing on it
EXCEPT! Windows XP which is running the security cameras. The whole idea was to switch from XP & Big Brother Gold Video Surveillance to Ubuntu and Zoneminder.
I cannot have the XP partition harmed as it is the only thing that works.

I just want to get rid of karmic.

I don't do partitions, so I'm not very familiar. Have you tried Google 'format second partition' and after that maybe reinstall Jaunty?

If you had Windows Vista or Windows 7, there's a great explanation of how to do that on the Microsoft support site here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392).

However, with Windows XP, you'll have to search for the equivalent old way of doing that - so follow this (http://www.ambience.sk/fdisk-master-boot-record-windows-linux-lilo-fixmbr.php) link instead.

But I'd advise doing a fair bit of reading on the subject before you do anything, and also back-up anything you don't want to lose from the XP partition first.

Aha! and I had to get that from a linux expert. I feel so small and insignificant.
Thank you!

Could I ask that the next version of Ubuntu has a "self destruct" program to do this?
I mean, every military base and starship on the TV has one!
Even Windows has one - it's call "Start"
