View Full Version : [ubuntu] Upgrade to 9.10 with SiS graphics: how to get high resolution back?

Hi!
Just managed to upgrade from 8.04 to 9.10, via 8.10 and 9.04 (Esprimo Mobile Laptop).
First it didn't work out anyway, got a flickering login command line that did not bring me anywhere, instead of graphic surface or anything. Then I found out I had to delete/rename the old xorg.conf because 9.10 is somehow not able to use it and crashes.
Now it works, but I don't get the higher resolutions of my Sis 671 graphics card to run, problem that I had already solved in 8.04 by fixing the xorg.conf and downloading appropriate driver. Driver is still there, but what can I do to make Karmic use the high resolutions?
Or, what is the deal with the xorg.conf on Karmic, it crashes even with the xorg.conf having only the graphics card entry and nothing more?
thanx for any hint or help
Bernhard
