When I use a Terminal window in command line mode, the ls command clearly indicates that there are files in Desktop. Yet, no file icons appear on my Desktop.
When I click on Places, nothing happens after the busy icon terminates, i.e. no window comes up with file icons of Desktop.
I am using a vanilla Karmic (9.10) Live CD environment.
