Hi there

I've been using Ubuntu since about July, and now Karmic has been released, I find myself getting nervous. Despite how much I have learnt in the past few months, I still feel as if I'm woefully inadequate to deal with any issues which may arise during the upgrade.

So, I'm wondering if anyone with a similar machine or hardware to me has done the upgrade, and what their experience was.

The machien is a Dell Inspirion 1545. I'm running Jaunty Jackelope.

I would recommend waiting a month or so before upgrading. There seem to be a lot of people having problems with 9.10 (including myself).

Mhm waiting is an option, I am perfectly happy with my Jaunty at the moment.

There are indeed some horror stories out there, one I read described how the installation cut out while installing GRUB, and let the drive un-readable/writeable

What are your problems?

No sound, slow booting, can't continue normal boot after booting in recovery mode and it has a tendency to crash every half hour or so.

Aside from that it's fine.:p
