I read through the installation guide about dual booting and it has a ton of information, it states many different options of how to create partitions and use all these ubuntu commands. I have never used anything Linux based and can't really tell what it means for the simple dual boot I am trying to do.

I have a 300HD in my laptop, 100GB is partitioned into a partition that windows 7 is installed on (NTFS), and 200GB is unpartitioned.

I have downloaded the [Ubuntu-9.10-desktop-amd64] image and put it on a CD.
I'm wondering if I can just boot to the CD, and then some Ubuntu Installation GUI will just start and allow me to make a partition out of my 200GB of unpartitioned space, and then install Ubuntu to new partition ?

Is there any chance the installation can be this simple and then coexist with windows 7 on the other partition?

If not can someone quickly explain what I might have to do, or try to point me in a more specific direction in a Installation guide, as the general one has so many scenarios, I can't tell what I really need to do.
