Trying to install 9.10 but the partitioner crashes while trying to detect file systems.
Placing a bug report leads to a lunch pad wepage that described this as a known but harmless bug that can be ignored?
Hello! If the partitioner crashes you CAN NOT install UBUNTU!
How can they decide this is a non-issue and does not need to be fixed?
I guess I will drop back to 9.01 and wait for 9.2

???
do you mean go back to 9.04 then wait for 10.04? that is 6months down the road.
I suggest you redownload the karmic (9.10) iso and burn to cd again.

Whatever...
I guess I have to go back because the Alternate-CD and doing a Net install give the same results
Partitioner hangs at 78% when "detecting file systems"
I can not believe a bug the prevents installation is considered a non-issue.

OK I take it back this is not a bug it is worse...
I have been trying all day to install Ubuntu 9.10 on my netbook
The first time I tried the installation crashed at 95%.
Every try after that failed, usually at the partioner.
I have been using the text based installer and it also failed after partitiong it would fail to mount the new file system.
I have dropped back to 9.04 (that has been running flawlessly) and the installer stops in the same place but gives me the error
Input/Output error during read on /dev/sda (the on board 4G SSHDD)
This leads be to believe Ubuntu 9.10 installation killed my SSHDD!
