no sound after upgrading to 9.10

Hi,
I've just done an upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 and now I have no sound.

If I go in the sound manager, under the hardware tab, there is nothing listed. I've tried many applications, none of them give sound.

What should I do ?

oh well... it works now. I wasn't booting on the latest kernel. I've tried to update grub menu file myself but I made a mess. So in the end i just upgraded to grub 2 and it's all fine.
