What's Up?

OK, So I remember when i upgraded via update manager to 9.04 I had some problems, And just wanted to know before i do update, Is their any known problems when updating from 9.04 to the new 9.10?

Most people will not recommend that you upgrade. You will run into some issues - what issues, will depend on your hardware (for that matter, you may not have any issues, but that would be an exception).

The best thing to do would be to do a fresh install.

It is unlikely that anyone can give you a cast iron guarantee that all will be hunky dory for you.

Read these pages, then make your own mind up.

There are features that you may not get by upgrading, eg ext4 unless you already have it.

Either way, remember to back up everything that you wouldn't want to lose, before upgrading or reinstalling.

I've been in the forums quite a bit since release of 9.10 and there seem to be a lot of issues with sound, with wireless connectivity and with GRUB. I agree with dhavalbbhatt that if you're going to take the plunge, do a fresh install. BTW, I upgraded Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 and had issues with Ubuntu One and Ubuntu would not shut down or restart. Both issues have since been solved and everything is running fine now.
