Updates not working - even when freshly installed 9.10 - pls help

About 2 months ago, 3 desktops had trouble updating - they got stuck some of the way through checking for updates. I thought it may have been a program I installed or a modification I made. But I found the same issue when I did a fresh install with 9.10.

Here is what i get. How do I solve?

It appears to be related to a translation Au update...

I was in a different location in the city, and was using a free wireless internet cafe with my laptop using fresh install of 9.10, which had the same issue. It seemed to do a proper check & not hang. I am not 100% sure about this because I did stop the downloads of the updates, but I thought everything was fixed, and found that it still hung again at 15 of 25 check of update process when I went to the office where we run all the machines.

Is it possible that there is a cache or server problem, or that my ISP is interfering?

Even when trying sudo apt-get update through terminal, it hangs at the same spot...:mad:

ok, i think this fixes it:
go to update manager
down the bottom, click settings
go to the far right tab, change the location of where updates come from to "Main Server"
