There is a strange error during installation from Live CD of Ubuntu 9.04 and also Linux Mint Gloria. When I select "manually select partitions" in installation GUI the screen starts to Scan Disks "Scanning Disks...." then gets to 50% and an unrecognized error box pops up "??? ??? ok" The only option is to click OK. After that it freezes at 50% and you must hard reset the computer. I have not found a way to install Ubuntu 9.04 or Gloria. Is this a new problem with these newer versions? I have never had these issues before. I have been dual booting Linux/WinXP for the past 3 yrs. I have checked the Live CDs for errors and verified MD5's.
I have also Defragged and consolidated HDD free space. I also have one partition "EXT3" setup along with a Swap on the HDD.
Any insight to the problem would be greatly appreciated.
