Does anyone else have this problem? I tried installing both the lxde and lubuntu packages and even replaced the pcmanfm and I'm still having issues with pcmanfm displaying the wallpaper. Every time I log in, it displays either the ubuntu xsplash or a bunch of random graphics such as parts of the xsplash and lxpanel diced everywhere. If you choose to not use pcmanfm for wallpaper, then it does not seem to have this problem. Also different wall paper options (stretch, tile, fit, etc) each produce different results, none of which actually work properly.
I have managed to make the wallpaper display properly if I change it after I log in, but it still will not work on login.
