Dual monitors - All panels move to first monitor when second monitor not plugged in

Sorry for the long title. I tried searching this forum and searching Google, but I couldn't find an answer to this.

I have a dual monitor setup on a laptop using Nvidia Twinview, and I have two panels added to the second monitor. However, I often detach the second monitor when I take map laptop with me, and whenever I do, both panels from the second monitor are moved to my first monitor, which really crowds the tiny screen.

Is there some way to stop the panels from moving from the second monitor to the first monitor when it's not plugged in?

Could you work as a seperate X screen rather than Twinview, Mine works fine that way.
