Ubuntu 9.04 dispensed with the Screens & Graphics tool for changing display resolution. The workaround was to install randr which has now been replaced with grandr [g for graphical i suppose]. I've just tried that on ubuntu 9.10 and all fine. Ubuntu 9.10 seems to need a few more resources and for my spare machine i decided to try Xubuntu 9.10 as i don't need alot of the features in ubuntu.

I have had the same problems setting display with Xubuntu. Installing grandr did not allow me to change to a 1024 x 768 which is what i've got a lot of apps set for. Once the display is set on grandr it will work fine but when one shutsdown on bootup it doesn't find the set display and completely messed up.

Is there a solution? Is this a bug? It seems basic enough to have been found in testing before release. Or is it that there are few users of Xubuntu and hasn't been noticed.

Many thanks
