View Full Version : [ubuntu] "CUPS server error" 9.10

November 5th, 2009, 06:24 PM

I've just installed 9.10 and I'm trying to add a network printer (same network and printer and configuration I used in previous versions). It lets me go through the entire "Add new printer" procedure but upon hitting the apply button after selecting the appropriate driver, I get the following error:

"CUPS server error

There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'"

printer is a Brother HL-5040, protocol is lpd.
Has anybody experienced this? Any idea where the hang-up would be? As I said, I've been using an identical setup and configuration with previous Ubuntu versions for quite some years now.

Thanks for any input!
