Hi, there

I was searching through various other threads (didn't want to bother you with it), but it seams like no one had exactly the same problem as I do.

So here it is:

I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 yesterday. Everthing went fine until after the final restart, Ubuntu did not recognise my display any more. Starting in recovery mode I can use the Command Line, but I don't know exactly how to figure out what I have to do.
If I want to open something that uses X I get a
Error: Can't open display:

same for xrandr

I'm using Linux since 8.04 LTS, never had any serious problems. (I've always been able to solve them on my own, using various forums.)
My Laptop is an Acer Extensa 5630Z if that is of interest.

If you want me to post the output of some Command Line promts, please tell me how to write them in a file which I can copy to a PC where I have internet!

Thanks in advance
