I just installed 9.10 from the Alt CD on a Dell Precision T5500 workstation. When I try to hibernate or suspend the system nothing happens at all. If I'm logged in the screen locks, if I'm at the login screen nothing happens at all.

Should I do anything special to enable hibernation?

Thanks in advance,

Nico

I got the same problem with the previous version in which by increasing the SWAP partition bigger than my memory ram the problem got solved.

However, in this new version, the hibernation mode is not working even do I still have a SWAP partition bigger than the memory ram.

I don't know what they had done.

This is for a dell laptop, but having had a read of it, there seems no obvious (to me) reason it shouldn't work on a dell desk-top either.

See how you get on. http://www.tolaris.com/2009/11/10/enabling-the-sleep-button-on-a-dell-laptop-in-kubuntu-karmic/
