I've got the same problem. Running 9.10 with Fluxbox 1.1.1. I've got "gnome-screensaver" in my ~/.fluxbox/startup file and it worked perfectly under 9.04 but now it doesn't.

I got tired of futzing around with the the Gnome screensaver, so, I chucked it and installed xscreensaver. It works fine. If anyone would like to try that, but don't know how to do it, you can find my instructions in post #4 in this recent thread:
