I just looked through this article and noticed on the Dell he tested it has an unfamiliar desktop environment. Anyone know what this is? I like the look of this compared to the gnome environment.

I searched the Dell website and looked around the forums with no luck. Thanks for any helpful hints.

That is Gnome, the UI is from Netbook version. I think the app responsible of that is called "ume-launcher", but I've understood there are other apps involved in the netbook user interface.

Anyway, Ubuntu Netbook Remix uses that UI (as do so other Ubuntu-based netbook distros), so the packages are in Ubutnu's repositories (and there might even be some nice metapackage for it, like the ubuntu-desktop and kubuntu-desktop packages..)
