Good Day All,
Am trying to resurrect a 2ghz Compaq EVO510 by installing 9.04 (since I already have the CD)...the system boots from the CD and displays the logo correctly, I select 'English', and it displays the install-options screen ok, but after selecting 'Install', it works for awhile and then exits the GUI to a black & white terminal screen and displays:
Loading, please wait...
Linux ubuntu 2.6.28-11-generic #42-ubuntu SMP
The programs included with the Ubuntu system are free software...blahblah...and are described in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright
Ubuntu comes with no warranty.
To access official doc site...blahblah
To run a command as administrator use 'sudo <command>
and leaves me at the
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$
command prompt...
what gives?
it is an empty machine (ie. no o/s on hard disk)
any ideas?
thanks in advance for your time!
cheers!
Phil
