I was going through some of my stored cd's and found some copies of the early caldera ? i think it is spelled and the early red hat linux.

I was thinking about trying to get one going on one of my machines but i remember they were not that display friendly back then !!

Plus i don't think they would find all the new bits and pieces we have today compared to then.

Anyone else remember them ?

Red Hat is still around- and it has an incredibly huge commercial base. Caldera was made by SCO Group, I'd stay away from that one (not just because of the company, because from what I heard is that its installer was terrible).

This cd has a date of 3-1997 . thats a long time ago to me. 12 years ago.

this is the original release from Caldera OpenLinux. I am still trying to get a cd rom running so i can look at the contents of the red hat disk and the caldera disk. Don't want to take the chance they will mess up my dvd-rw because they are so old.
