View Full Version : [all variants] WoW with open source drivers

I have a radeon X1300 which is supported by the open source drivers, in 9.04 I was able to run WoW perfectly in d3d mode and get 27fps using the open source drivers. I am now running 9.10 and have the open source drivers configured and am using the exact same xorg.conf that was in 9.04 but when I run WoW the login screen is near frozen with the animation running a frame roughly every 5 seconds... I've got the DisabledExtenions registry change in effect as well as ffxglow, ffxdeath, and M2useshaders all disabled, I've even tried running in openGL with no more success.. is there any way for me to find out what's the problem with either my xorg.conf or my WoW setup?

unfortunately that didn't work, it's still doing it.. has anyone gotten WoW to work on 9.10 using ATI open source drivers?

What version of wine are you using? I use the latest develpment version, Wine 1.1.33, with no problems. I know when I used to use the stable 1.01 version I couldn't run wow in d3d mode, only opengl. My desktop uses the closed source nvidia driver, but my laptop uses an open source ati driver (mobility radeon, very old lol) and it runs wow alright in Ubuntu.

I'm trying to install 1.1.33, but all I seem to get is 1.1.32, which is what I was trying to use before

thakfully, I'm just on a private server, I was able to get it to work in intrepid and Jaunty, but I have no idea why the same solutions that worked then, won't work now in karmic
