I am a first-time user and want to set up a dual boot Windows XP/Ubuntu 9.10.

I defragged and backed up my hard disk and went ahead with installation When I got to the repartitioning page I had the option of do nothing, full Ubuntu (obliterate Windows) or manual repartition (I'm too insecure to try that). No mention of dual-boot or guided repartition.

I checked the forum and took the advice to defrag in safe mode which I did. A buch of files alone at the opposite side of the HD which were not moved by a normal defrag were now kicked back into place so i thought that my next attempt would be a breeze.

Alas I get the same options to repartition and find no trace of the guided repartitioning mentioned everywhere I search for info.

What have I done wrong?
