Jaunty Jakalope had a set of nice Login Screens, but Karmic Koala doesn't have too many options to select a preferred Login Screen. Does somebody know what is the reason for removing that option?

upstream changes.
ubuntu doesn't make the login screens in various releases. they didn't make the old one, they didn't make the new one.
they do add a nice looking theme, though. or a bad looking theme, depending on your opinion.
ya know how Free and Open Source Software has the "anyone can modify or redistribute bla bla bla" stuff?
for the majority* of what we consider "Ubuntu", Ubuntu is merely the "anyone" that modifies and redistributes. or distributes as-is without modifying, as the case may sometimes be.
If paid employees of Ubuntu developed and programmed all of Ubuntu, the price certainly wouldn't be $0.00. :D
the guys 'upstream' that put GNOME together say "ok, this is how the new GNOME login screen looks!" Ubuntu dudes say "OK, we're using it!" and add a theme and perhaps some other tweaks. nothing at all wrong with that, mind you. it's how Free Software works.
*majority, but certainly not all! Ubuntu has made some really great contributions to Free Software.
edit: take a look at how Fedora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedora_linux)'s desktop looks. familiar, perhaps?

yup, they didn't decide on that particular placement of menus, icons, and whatnot either.
GNOME decides that gnome looks like *THIS* and does *THIS*. distributions using GNOME have the choice of either accepting that or eventually being forced to fork.
some Arch Linux folks chose the "fork" option for KDE. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDEmod

Thank you so much for being kind enough to reply so quickly!:D
I've been an Ubuntu fan sice about 5 years, but I was not familiar with ubuntu those days. Now I'm using Ubuntu (Intrepid Ibex/Jaunty Jakalope & now Karmic Koala). So I don't have a big knowledge about Ubuntu and I really appreciate your advice! It was so clear & thanks again for that!
