Hi
I have downloaded 9.10 twice from different places and both times when I
burn the cd and try to boot my laptop from it, I have a failure.
I boot from the cd drive and the ubuntu logo comes up. It then flashes
the screen that has the options listed for about 1/2 sec. It then goes to the language screen and I select the default (English).
I hit enter again to run ubuntu from cd. The reader starts up and after about 5 secs the screen goes blank except for a flashing cursor. It just stays like that forever. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on?
I have never had a problem burning iso images before. I tested and installed 9.04 this way. I popped open the cd drive and back in but no change.
I am running a Toshiba satellite 100 laptop. It runs 9.04 just fine.
thanks........Paul

Mine goes to create_floppy_devices[178]: specified group 'floppy' unknown after selecting the Install, then just times out. Alt cd. about to burn it again even though the md5 checks out good

I checked the md5 of the cd and it was fine. i put the cd in my desktop
and 9.10 came up. I was able to go around and try out various items.
So why doesn't it work with my laptop??? I see the Register has an article about various problems users are having with 9.10. Perhaps the blank screen on my laptop at boot up is part of these problems. Any thoughts!!
