I just did a clean install of Karmic today - and wow - what a difference.
What makes Karmic such a pleasure was the culmination of all the little things.
1.) Installation seemed faster and simpler - the slide show was a nice bit of polish.
2.) Network manager - wow! It detected all my networks - including wireless. I entered my passphrase and BOOM! Connected. I don't even need the little script I ran in the terminal to get a decent data rate. It appears that problem has been fixed.
3.) Speed - everything is faster and snappier.
4.) Connecting to my wife's home Windows network - three steps - BOOM! - connected to all share files.
5.) Nice improvement on icons and look and feel. I am buying a bigger wide screen tomorrow.
6.) The one thing I was concerned about - Software Store - like it more now.
I can honestly say this has been the most polished experience with a new Ubuntu I can remember.
Well Done!
