I recently updated my ubuntu 9.04 by downloading alternate cd image & mounting in ubuntu & started update.
I did run firefox & office while update was on. After Update, a reboot was requested. After reboot i got
"Error 11: Unrecognized device string".
I tried to correct grub by editing grub in my live-cd (9.04)
"root (hd0,7)
setup(hd0)"
this didn't solve the problem. So i manually edited grub & changed device id in "root" tag to (hd0,7) & rebooted.
This time no error came but the system remained stuck in the initial splash screen.
Please help...
