I upgraded to 9.10 from 9.04 and everything is fine except that now I have no shutdown button. It was in the upper right corner of the screen in Jaunty with a dropdown menu of shutdown, reboot, suspend, etc but now its not there and I don't see it any other place. I guess I could
sudo shutdown now
and hit the power switch but I'm hoping somebody has a better idea.

Right click in an empty part of the panel, Add to Panel -> Shutdown.

Is your user name in the upper right corner to the right of the date/time? The button is usually left of your name (unless the date/time covers it or your screen resolution is not right). But if you click on your user name there is a drop down list of standby, shutdown, etc.

Thank you! That did the trick. I'll mark the thread as SOLVED.

No, my username wasn't there either but I found it along with the shutdown button when I right clicked the panel.
