Hi people!

I decided to test ubuntu 9.10, so I downloaded it from the bit torrent mirror. I burnt it on a CD, but when I try to start it I get the error "uncompression error ---- system halted"

What can I do?

You must try lower speed to burn ISO

Ok, I'll try and then I'll say the results.

Also check the md5 hash value of your download to the one listed on the www.ubuntu.com main page. If they don't match you need to re-download it.

I'm getting this problem as well. The MD5 values match up correctly, I try booting from the CD, I get the ubuntu graphic and press Down to "Install Ubuntu" and press enter. Freezes for about a minute, and then it says:

uncompression error
-- system halted

I was burning at 2x.

edit: If it helps, the CD is Maxwell CD-R, 80min\700MB

I've been through three disks so far, trying at three different speeds.

First: Maximum Speed, same error
Second: 4x Speed, same error
Third: 2x Speed, same error.

Should I waste another CD ?
