I would like to install some new fonts to use in GIMP for creating logos and banners.

How do I install new fonts?

My System Info is
Release: Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid)
GNOME: 2.24.1 (Ubuntu 2008-10-24)
Kernel: 2.6.27-14-generic (#1 SMP Mon Aug 31 13:01:41 UTC 2009)

You might not even have to reboot, but if they don't show up in GIMP, it wouldn't hurt to.
