Just for defecation and giggles, I booted up a Virtual Box in Vista. Threw in my Kubuntu 9.10 CD and installed it.

Now, the actual operation of the OS didn't perform as well as a normal installation. But the installer worked WAY faster, and had no graphical glitches like it did when I did my original clean install.

Going through the installer from "menu" to "menu", i.e. clicking "Next" was significantly quicker than a regular installation. And the language pack download even seemed to be faster, although I can chalk that one up to it being a few days after the release, and internet traffic is down.

Then I decided to run the original Ubuntu in a separate virtual box (Still in Vista). It seemed to run through the installer WAY faster as well. Then when the OS came up, it wasn't quite as quick as a regular installation.

So, I'm wondering what's up with my computer that causes the installer to be such a pain, or why the V-Box seems to run it faster.
