Upgrade to 9.10 and workspaces not work

Hello,

I recently upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and although I love so many components of the new interface and its speed-enhanced design, I found that my workspaces no longer work.

Normally there are issues with video drivers and such, but that a lot has to do with switching between workspaces and such ... this is the first time I could not even click on another workspace by using the mouse or switch to it using the keyboard.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

This is just a guess, but try installing compiz and the gui for it , if you haven't. I lost some workspace functionality going from 9.04 to 9.10 and I was able to reenable it through compiz.
