I am consistently getting the following during install:

CD checked out fine ( tried multiple CDs...)
I have burnt CD at lower speeds based on the recommendation from error.
I was even able to install on older machine without problems.

I have been successful with all installations up until Karmic.

Thanks for any assistance.

This is from the Live CD btw.. I did try Alternate but kept getting please install Karmic Koala CD.. ( or something like that ) after some progress during copying of files.

Could this actually be a temperature issue? I did get further this time after my machine was shut off for about an hour...

I was able to resolve this. I am fairly confident my dvd/cd drive was over heating during the install. I notice these failures happened when the CD drive was operating at full speed and was very warm to the touch. Also these errors occurred earlier on when the drive was operating ( ie. working with the Live CD before I launched an install ) My solution: I put a cold pack on the drive and quickly install have drive had been idle for some time. The installation completed without issue.
