The ad has been out for atleast a week, maybe two... I've even written a piece about it:
iDoesn't: Droid Shouldn't (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2314449/idoesnt_droid_shouldnt.html?cat=15)
I love Android and GNU/Linux, but I see it as a mostly mud-slinging.

Prefer Maemo over droid for technical reasons.

Failure number 1: the ads target the iPhone and its downfalls.
Isn't this the same as the "I'm a mac. And i'm a PC" commercials were? As i recall, reception was GREAT for those commercials, and they were pretty effective.

i own an iphone and i think it's a great ad. because it's true. you don't see me crying about it. it's got some great features, but man, they should have hired someone to give it a decent look.

I still love my G1, especially after i grew a pair a couple of weeks ago and put a custom rom (xRom) on it. Still can't wait to get a G2 touch though :D

well it depends on how you define open, i would at least like to be able to reimplement it myself, im not against what they did per se, but i think they could have followed the spirit of foss a little more, rather than just the letter.
Let Google have their marketing advantage.
you could say the same about microsoft, and at least they didnt base it on the hard work of others, plus it sort of indicates that companies like red hat dont have a marketing advantage, plus if they truly had a marketing advantage they wouldnt need to rely on anything proprietary anyway.

Yes, that's true, but I was talking about iPhone commercials only.
Maybe it's just when a company feels that their product is the underdog in the fight (i.e. Mac vs. PC)
that they think they have to mudsling...
