View Full Version : [ubuntu] Gnome workspace switcher issues

When I upgraded to 9.04, my Gnome workspace switcher stopped working. After some experimentation, I discovered that I could make it work again by enabling "cube rotation" in the Compiz config manager. However, I really don't appreciate the "screen flip" graphical effect that I get now when I switch workspaces. I have a very powerful machine, but I prefer to spend my cycles on something besides 3D graphics.

I don't care a fig about the compiz cube or its rotation. I just want a simple way to switch from one workspace to another -- without special graphical effects!

Is there any way to do this?

P.S. I tried uninstalling compiz. What happened then is not only that the workspace switcher stopped working, but the window manager stopped rendering any header bars, making it impossible to close some applications. So if I want to use gnome, apparently I am stuck with compiz???
