I have a laptop with 7.04, Feisty Fawn, preinstalled by dell. I need to install some packages, but apt-get update, fails. Looking around, I don't see FF, just hardy heron and dapper dan, Is FF somekind of redheaded stepchild that got deleted? I can't upgrade to the latest and greatest just yet, but in the meantime I need some programs. Is there someplace to point my sources to? Here is my existing sources:

Dapper and Hardy are Long Term Support Versions. Your only hope is to hit https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors and pray you find a mirror that hasn't deleted the most recent updates from Oct 2008. Although really you need to get to something that has had security updates over the last year.

It's time to upgrade or to reinstall, backup your files in both cases.

I'd recommend using LSTs from now on.

Yeah that's the long range goal, but until then I'd like to muddle through.

But seriously, isn't this software archived somewhere official? I'm checking mirrors and have had no luck, but I'll keep trying.

Yes, at http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/

Just change your sources.list file accordingly.

Check here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EOLUpgrades#Requirements), as mikewhatever already suggested.

Ah, this is what I was looking for, thanks very much. I got through about 40 of the mirrors without luck. Thanks again!
