Loss of backlight control

Since i upgraded from 9.04 i have lost the ability to control my backlight.

My laptop is the samsung Q45 (NP-Q45A007/SUK) There used to be issues with the backlight but it did get fixed. What is werid is that my brother who also owns a Q45 but with a slightly different configuration (half a year older) has not experianced any issues i have.

Same here. Clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 has no keyboard control of notebook display brightness. If I suspend and then resume, the brightness is reduced (for some unknown reason) and I cannot increase it using the keyboard. Makes suspend useless.

i've been able to get my backlight working by downgrading my bios to 08st which is what i had to do back in 8.04. A nice step back. :S
